Showing Mom how it's done ;)

This is a test... a test of the emgergency broadcasting system. black hair and two nose rings showed them to their table. It was by the window, and before Kathy had even a napkin in her lap a waiter, who looked too young to drink, brought them glasses of water with thin slices of lemon in them.
“Pretty neat, eh?” Michael said, looking proud of himself.
“Yes, it’s lovely,” Katherine said, picking up her menu. It was printed in brown ink on a large piece of tan card-stock, and there were only about seven or eight meals available.
“They throw the menus out every couple of days and the chef comes up with something new,” Michael said, glancing over his own paper choices. “Their fettuccini is fantastic.”
“You’ve been here before?” Kathy asked, suddenly curious.
“Yeah, I’ve been here a couple of times,” he said, a little guarded. Other women, it had to be. Katherine couldn’t imagine him coming here with the guy’s for some Eggplant Parmesan after work.
“So, you gonna tell me who she was?”
Michael looked up, a forced smile. He was mulling it over.
“Well…”
“I’m just kidding, I don’t care.” Kathy said, taking a sip of lemony water. It was from the tap, and not even very cold. “Come on, I’m curious to try this stuff out. Let’s figure out what we’re gonna eat.”
